Believe it or not, 2014 is over! As we turn a new page and begin this New Year, let us remember what we are here for. The Preacher wrote in Ecclesiastes 12:13, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all.”
Around the world resolutions are being made for 2015. Amongst these resolutions are many important facets of this life. However, life itself is purposed toward one thing only – serving God. Isn’t it fitting then that our resolutions for the New Year serve that purpose?
The Apostle Paul expressed an important mindset to the church in Philippi. He wrote, “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me” (Philippians 3:12). Our resolutions for the New Year should reflect this sentiment. Our purpose and goal in life is to live it in such a way that we attain the “prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14). Let us resolve to be unequivocally better servants of our God in 2015 than we were last year!
