“Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name.” – Psalm 86:11
“Test all things” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). One who walks in the truth tests things to find whether they are of the truth. If they are not, they are to be rejected. This requires knowledge of God’s word, and constant vigilance.
Reverence for God. “Let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” (Hebrews 12:28). One who walks in the truth has reverence for God. In order for our service to be acceptable, it must not be flippant. We are serving the Almighty and we must act accordingly.
Unwavering faith. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Walking in truth requires faith. We must have faith to please God (cf. Hebrews 11:6). This faith must prove to be unfeigned (cf. 1 Timothy 1:5).
Triumphant over all. The truth is incorruptible, and abides forever (cf. 1 Peter 1:22-25). Those who are born again through the truth are promised triumph. If we continue walking in truth, we will be rewarded in the end (cf. 2 Thessalonians 1:3-12).
“Hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). One who walks in the truth does not involve himself in evil. After testing all things, he only holds fast to what is good.
