The life of a Christian is described as a walk. “Walk” is a verb. The Christian life is not supposed to be sedentary, but active. Paul said, “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called” (Ephesians 4:1). This walk we were called to includes:
- Good Works – “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (2:10).
- Love – “Walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us” (5:2).
- Light – “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light” (5:8).
- Wisdom – “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise” (5:15).
The walk we are called to is not one without trials. For this reason we have been given equipment to put on for our walk – “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (6:11).
Are you actively walking in these ways? Are you prepared for battle in the midst of your walk? Continue to walk, and “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (6:10)!
