Part 1 of 3 in a series on “social drinking.” Does the Bible sanction moderate consumption of alcohol? This series of lessons is designed to refute such an erroneous claim. Part 1 deals with the destructive nature of alcohol, the meanings of words translated into “wine” in the Hebrew and Greek along with their various uses, ways in which fermentation was prevented in antiquity, and lastly, the need to gain wisdom and understanding, discern both good and evil, and think spiritually to recognize the prohibition for alcohol consumption.
