Question smallerThe Apostle Paul explains in the verses prior to our text that the purpose of the old law was to be a “tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” (v.24). He explains that “faith has come” and “we are no longer under a tutor” (v.25).

The law was meant for the Jews. The Gentiles were not part of God’s chosen people. It is wonderful to know that we are now under the law of Christ, and that condemning law has been done away with!

Anyone can put on Christ. It doesn’t matter what your gender is, what your ethnicity is, or whether or not you are a free man. We are all one in Christ; that is if we have been “baptized into Christ.” Those in Christ are “Abraham’s seed,” and Christ is put on in baptism, so those who are baptized are “heirs according to the promise!” What comfort this truth brings!
