rsz_articles_20webIn his time of lament after his transgression with Bathsheba, David pleaded with the Lord to forgive him. He recognized the putrid nature of sin, and that his involvement with it had tainted him. In Psalm 51, David explains the power of the Lord to cleanse us of our sins.

He wrote, “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow” (Psalm 51:7). Our recent experience with snow brings this verse to life. The contrast of the snow against the rest of the ground demonstrates just how pure and white it is. Our “sins are like scarlet, [but] they shall be as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18). Praise God for His ability to make us whiter than snow!
