In 2 Corinthians 1:12-24, the apostle Paul defended himself against the accusation of duplicity. Along with the defense of his own character came the necessity of defending the gospel he proclaimed – “For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes. For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:19-20) God is not self-contradictory. His “Yes” is always “Yes.” His gospel never changes. The Corinthians needed to reject the false gospel being proclaimed by Paul’s opposition, and return to the truth. Applications are made concerning denominational contradictions – When God says “Yes,” and the denominations say “No.”
