“And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” (Genesis 15:6) Both Paul and James quote from Genesis 15:6 to emphasize the point of justification by faith. To the unlearned and untaught the context of Paul’s writing and that of James may seem contradictory. For this reason many have twisted the scripture to their own destruction (cf. 2 Peter 3:16). What is the faith which the Lord accounts to us for righteousness? This sermon considers the important topic, and looks to the life of Abraham for the answer.
